About This Instrument
At twenty-one tubes, this pan flute spans more than two octaves and enters the territory of serious performance and ceremonial music. Handcrafted by artisans working in the Andean tradition, the bamboo tubes are bound and finished with natural fiber in the traditional manner, the aesthetic as much a part of the instrument as the sound. The extended range opens access to the full modal vocabulary of Andean music as well as Western scales, making it equally useful for folk performance and meditative improvisation.
